ABB JOKAB SAFETY Unveils Safety Contact Mats

April 19, 2020

Machine safety is an important part of every industry. Companies are now using advanced technology to provide improved and reliable machine safety to their employees.

Offering protection to employees working around machines, presses, robots and other types of active equipment, ABB JOKAB SAFETY, a supplier of machine safety equipment, has unveiled a new line of Safety Contact Mats. These safety mats work as monitoring systems and are placed as a boundary around potentially hazardous equipment.

The mat prevents employees or anyone else from stepping too close to the equipment. This is done as the surface triggers a control signal and stops circuit of the nearby equipment when someone steps too close. The machine stops immediately, which means that danger avoided successfully.

“The new ABB JOKAB SAFETY contact mats have been developed to reduce the costs associated with monitoring personnel inside hazardous areas, costs typically associated with safety laser scanners or horizontally mounted safety light curtains,” said Rich Gibson, ABB JOKAB SAFETY product manager. “These mats, built in the United States, are the perfect blend of economical design and extreme robustness for tough industrial applications.”

JOKAB Safety Contact Mats are equipped with a dotted polyurethane non-slip surface layer, and can withstand the toughest industrial conditions. They are designed to withstand rough use and oil, acid or caustic substances. They are available in various sizes, and can be put around different sizes of machineries.

ABB JOKAB SAFETY has a vast experience in providing solutions for industrial manufacturing machine safety problems. The company has provided machine safety systems for automated production and assembly lines, robotic cells, power and hydraulic press operations, conveyor and material handling systems, woodworking machinery, welding lines and various other types of industries.

Recently, the company introduced two new safety guidebooks and product catalogs; the 'Machine Safety Systems and Components Compendium' and the 'Safety Switches and Emergency Stops' catalog.
